SHAH ALAM - There is no room for those individuals to play on religion, race, and royal institutions (3R), Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh says.

The remark was made following caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who was brought to court in connection with an insulting statement made allegedly towards the Sultan of Selangor over his choice of the state menteri besar.

Dr Akmal also said this towards DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng, who he said had deliberately raised the 3R issue when he allegedly made a remark on the destruction of an Indian temple during a programme in Jelutong, Penang.

However, Lim had since insisted that his speech had been twisted as if there were individuals who wanted to destroy the Buddhist or Chinese temples.

Dr Akmal yesterday said that action must be taken against anyone, regardless of party, whether government or opposition if they had touched on 3R issues.

"MB Kedah (Sanusi) was charged today (yesterday). We are waiting for Lim Guan Eng and others after this.

"It doesn't matter what the party's colour is, whether it's the government or the opposition, there should not be an exception so that it becomes a lesson for all leaders and people," he said through a post on Facebook.

Yesterday, Sanusi, who is also Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director, was charged with two counts of uttering seditious remarks that could incite disloyalty towards any Rulers.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Meanwhile, Lim, also the Bagan MP, referred to the case of a Hindu temple being demolished in July 2020 in Kedah and attached a newspaper clipping to support his statement.

The Federal police’s Classified Crime Investigation Unit (D5) carried out the investigation in accordance with Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
