BUKIT MERTAJAM - PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar has called for better parking spaces in shopping malls after many riders complained about the lack of space and the inconvenience it caused.

This comes after the former lawmaker had successfully advocated for a solution to the parking woes of food delivery riders at the Sunway Carnival Mall.

Following a meeting with Nurul Izzah, the mall has agreed to provide special parking spaces dedicated to delivery riders.

She said that she was approached by a group of delivery riders in Permatang Pauh who had been appealing to the mall management for a designated parking area.

"The riders told me that they often have to enter the mall multiple times a day to collect food from various outlets, and that this can be expensive as they have to pay parking fees each time.

"They also told me that they sometimes park their motorcycles illegally on the roads outside the mall, which has led to them being fined by the police and the municipal council," she said in a statement today.

Nurul Izzah said that she raised the issue with the mall management, and that they were understanding and empathetic to the riders' plight.

"Following a fruitful discussion, the management agreed to provide special parking spaces for the riders," she said.
