Mufti warns of legal action against those who practice misguided teachings

GEORGE TOWN - Religious authorities at federal and state levels have been urged to investigate the involvement of certain individuals believed to be followers of the misguided teachings of Suhaini Mohammad or 'Si Hulk'.

The call was made by Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor following the circulation of a viral recording that displayed the individuals making claims about Prophet Muhammad's position as God.

"We hope investigations are done immediately by religious authorities at a federal and state level to identify the individuals involved.

"If they are stubborn and continue to hold on to the misguided teachings, they must be brought to the Sharia Court and be punished according to the current laws," he said in a statement today.

The recording displayed a family whom, after introducing themselves, had one member confessing to what the pioneer of the faith said was true.

The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) on their website stated that any individuals or groups practising any forms of beliefs or practices that are contrary to the teachings of Islam are considered misguided and legal actions could be taken by religious authorities. authorities.

In June, Sinar reported that Melaka Religious Department arrested a man suspected of being a member of a misguided teachings group founded by Suhaini Mohammad who stated Prophet Muhammad SAW was Allah.

Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Exco Datuk Rahmad Mariman said the 38-year-old man was arrested at a home in the Jasin district at 8.30pm on June 11.
