SEREMBAN - Umno Negeri Sembilan hopes Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) respects the decision of the Unity Government seat allocation committee wherebythe Lenggeng State Assembly seat will be given to Umno for the state polls.

Negeri Sembilan Umno chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said the spirit of cooperation and understanding must be held by everyone at all party levels to ensure victory for the coalition.

“That has been decided and the decision has sided with BN - we had initially applied for two additional seats, but only one additional seat was given which is Lenggeng.

“I will hold on to that decision. The BN president has also announced the candidate that would contest in the Lenggeng State Assembly seat.

“I hope the understanding between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN can be accepted and understanding can be practised in facing this election,” he said when met by reporters at the Negeri Sembilan Wisma Umno here on Saturday.

Jalaluddin was commenting on Negeri Sembilan Amanah Youth’s decision intending to send a candidate for the Kota State Assembly sear when Umno was contesting in Lenggeng.

Negeri Sembilan Amanah Youth deputy chief Ahmad Shukri Kamaruddin said, the decision was made to ensure that Amanah remains relevant especially in Negeri Sembilan and stated the party was not a party that was easily boxed by opponents or friends.

Jalaluddin who is also the Jelebu MP said he trusts that all parties would respect the decision.

“This is because we have all been informed, anyone could fight to gain the additional seat, but ultimately the decision will be made by the Presidential Council, by our leader.

“If they want to send candidates to seats BN is contesting, I will also face problems,” he said.

He also stressed that there was no thing as familial candidates following the nomination of Puan Sri Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid and her son Mohd Najib Mohd Isa as candidates.

He explained nominations were being made based on the certain criteria for the best candidate.
