Najib's children send heartfelt birthday wishes to 'papa' on his 70th birthday

SHAH ALAM - Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's 70th birthday was celebrated behind bars yesterday and his son Ashman marked the occasion by posting an old photo with his father.

Ih his Instagram post, Ashman wrote: "Happy 70th birthday to my papa, dearest. You will always be blessed by Allah.

"Here is a throwback to our younger days," he said referring to the photo with his father.

Najib's daughter, Nooryana Najwa also took to Instagram of her conversation with her son, Adam.

"Mummy, how can we celebrate grandpa's birthday today if he's not here with us?"

"I had to respond, it's okay, you blow the cake for grandpa and he will see it when he comes back from work"

She said it was heart-wrenching as her father was celebrating his 70th birthday in these circumstances and he was unable to be with his family.

"Truly, Allah knows best and is the best of planners. Never lose hope. Never lose patience. Never lose strength," she wrote.

She said it his resilience that was keeping them inspired every day.

"We are in this together for as long as it takes. Happy Birthday Daddy, Grandpa, Bossku..."

She also extended her appreciation and thanked the prison staff who have been taking care of and ensuring her father's safety and health.

Najib is serving a 12-year prison sentence since Aug 2022 after failing to overturn 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) conviction.
