'I'm strict on KPIs for state polls winners' - Umno Youth chief

SHAH ALAM - Umno Youth will evaluate the key performance indicators (KPIs) of its candidates who win in the upcoming state elections, said its chief, Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.
He said the KPIs would be evaluated periodically based on community sentiment surveys, which would be conducted without prior notice to the elected representatives.
"Any candidate who does not meet the KPIs will be called up and given a warning, and action will be taken. I am very strict in this matter," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Sinar on July 21 reported that BN chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, announced that 107 candidates from the coalition would compete in the state polls, with 245 contested state assembly seats in the six states involved.
Zahid, who is also the Umno president explained that the candidates consisted of new faces, those who had contested before, those who lost and volunteered again, and in summary, 62 percent new faces, in addition to 35 young candidates.
Meanwhile, Muhamad Akmal said that the most important thing to do before wanting to be titled "Yang Berhormat" is to be a person who "serves" first.
"The elected leader must represent the voice of the people, not just the voice of their superiors," he said.
