No casualties from sinkhole on KL-Karak Highway, says minister

The incident occurred at 8:34 PM, affecting both westbound and eastbound lanes, between Bentong Barat Interchange and Bentong Timur Interchange.
"As of the latest update, all lanes in both east and west directions have been closed.
"Users heading towards Kuantan/Karak are advised to exit at Bentong Barat Interchange and re-enter the highway at Bentong Timur Interchange," he said in a statement.
He said the traffic is currently being managed and controlled. Authorities have been directed to provide continuous updates on the situation.
Those intending to use the Central Spine Road (CSR) to Kota Bharu are allowed to use the CSR Interchange, said the minister.
"Meanwhile, users heading towards Kuala Lumpur are advised to exit at Bentong Timur Interchange and re-enter the highway at Bentong Barat Interchange," he said, adding that authorities have been directed to update him continously on the situation.
Earlier, several photos circulated on social media showed the road surface has a large sinkhole due to soil settlement on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway.
Users from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan were directed to exit at the West Bentong intersection and re-enter at the East Bentong intersection.
