SHAH ALAM - Schools in Malaysia will be able to organise free Sports Day events at the Bukit Jalil Stadium starting in October, as part of the Kuala Lumpur Sports City's (KLSC) 25th anniversary celebrations.

The announcement was made by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh at the KLSC's anniversary event today.

She said that the Malaysia Stadium Corporation (PSM), which manages KLSC, had agreed to make its sports facilities more accessible to the public.

As part of this initiative, schools will be able to use the Jalan Duta Sports Complex and the Bukit Kiara Sports Complex free of charge for their Sports Day events.

After the completion of a grass replacement project in October, schools will also be able to use the track and facilities at the National Stadium.

"I believe that KLSC, which is managed by PSM, would continue to improve its administration and governance, making it the preferred site for national and international events," Hannah Yeoh said.

The KLSC was originally known as the National Sports Complex and was built in 1998 to host the 1998 Commonwealth Games.

Since then, it has hosted a number of other major sporting events, including the 2001 SEA Games and the 2017 SEA Games.
