60-year-old man arrested for providing illegal vehicle rental services at KLIA 2

SEPANG - Authorities arrested a 60-year-old senior citizen who was providing illegal vehicle rental services, also known as 'ulat', at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA 2) on Thursday.
According to Selangor Road Transport Department (RTD) deputy director, Ahmad KamarunZaman Mehat, the arrest followed surveillance and monitoring of the situation.
"The RTD seized a Toyota Innova used by the driver.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver had convinced four local passengers to use his transport services from Terminal 2, KLIA, to Subang Jaya, Selangor, with a fare of RM150 to be paid upon reaching the destination," he said.
Further checks revealed that the vehicle was owned by the driver.
He is now subject to investigations under Section 205(1) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, which provides for a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years, or both.
Ahmad warned those involved in collaborating with such illegal activities will be charged under Section 243(1) of the same act.
The public is strongly advised to use legal transport services available through designated service counters at KLIA and KLIA 2 or to make reservations through authorised e-hailing applications.
