Man severely injured after being slashed by a drug addict

SHAH ALAM - A man had to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Kota Bharu Hospital after being cut with a knife in an incident at about 6.27 pm on Wednesday.

Pasir Mas District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Kama Azural Mohamed said, the 32-year-old man was bleeding in the neck and the wound also hit his respiratory tract.

Kama Azural said, the 50-year-old mother of the victim informed her that her son came to her workplace covered in blood riding a motorcycle.

"The woman who works as a shop assistant was surprised to see her son covered in blood and there were cuts on the neck," he said in a statement on Friday.

He said that the victim's mother immediately took the victim to Rantau Panjang Health Clinic before being referred to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Kota Bharu Hospital.

Kama Azural said the suspect had been identified and the Pasir Mas police had mobilised the Cantas team of the Pasir Mas Criminal Investigation Division to track down the man.

He explained that the suspect was successfully arrested on the same day at about 9pm in Kampung Banggol Kulim, Rantau Panjang.

"The man was remanded for seven days starting Thursday and the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

"Investigations found that the suspect has a record of past offenses related to drug and criminal cases," he said.

He added that a urine screening test found the suspect positive for methamphetamine.
