SHAH ALAM - Malaysians can lease the roofs of their houses to companies under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) to increase their income, said Economic Affairs Minister Rafizi Ramli.

He added that the public would not have to bear the installation cost of the solar panels. Instead, the company will pay them monthly.

"The company will sell the proceeds from the solar and supply electricity to our energy grid. If we do this, everyone who has a house, whether in Kelantan, Kedah or Terengganu, can benefit from it.

"Many people have been asking about ways to boost their income by renting or leasing their roof space for solar energy installation since we announced the energy transition plan yesterday.

"I understand that installing solar panels can be expensive, ranging from RM40,000 to RM50,000. However, the company is willing to invest in this project and cover the installation costs," Rafizi said in his Twitter post on Friday.
