SIK - The quaint, sleepy town of Sik woke up to an eventful dawn today, as hundreds congregated at a local madrasah to pray for the electoral victory of Caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md. Nor in the coming August 12 state polls.

Held in conjunction with today’s nomination day, the misty morning prayer at the Tok Guru Haji Salleh madrasah began at 8:05AM with the imam reciting verses from Quran as he prayed for Sanusi’s electoral success.

Sanusi, however, was not present at the prayer.

Sanusi, of Perikatan Nasional (PN), is poised to defend the Jeneri state seat — which he won in his maiden electoral victory in the 2018 General Election — with his known contender so far being Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Datuk Muhamad Khizri Abu Kassin.

Six states will be up for contest and in Kedah, the tag team of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN is expected to face a fierce battle with PN.

Kedah has a total of 36 state seats, with 1,585,085 voters.
