KUALA LUMPUR - KPJ Healthcare Berhad (KPJ Healthcare), through its philanthropic arm Klinik Waqaf An-Nur (KWAN), continues to gain momentum in its sustainability initiatives, taking home the Company of the Year (Healthcare) Sustainability Champion Award.

The KWAN initiative, which aims to make a positive impact on society and the nation by ensuring accessible and quality healthcare, reflects KPJ Healthcare's role as a catalyst in providing quality healthcare to underserved communities in Malaysia.

Officer-in-Charge of KPJ Healthcare, Norhaizam Mohammad in a statement today said the award represents the tireless efforts of the team at KPJ Healthcare in ensuring sustainability efforts are continuous and effective without compromising on quality and integrity.

"The objective of KWAN is very clear and specific--to deliver quality healthcare to underserved communities and continuously engage and promote awareness of good health. Having cared for 1,931,932 patients through KWAN since 1998, we are determined to continue making a positive difference.

"It further fuels our commitment to improve and provide better quality healthcare services, in line with our promise to ‘Care for Life’,” she said.

Norhaizam said the KWAN initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) of good health and well-being (Goal 3), reduced inequalities (Goal 10) and partnerships for the goals (Goal 17).

"With its dedication to the UNSDGs, KPJ Healthcare collaborates with various partners to create meaningful change and work towards a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable future for all Malaysians through its KWAN clinics and dialysis centres.

"KPJ Healthcare as one of Malaysia’s leading healthcare providers has also been resolute in its sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) mission, contributing significantly to society and the nation,” she said.

Meanwhile, Norhaizam also attributed the success of KWAN to KPJ Healthcare’s strong collaborations with various companies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and religious state agencies which enabled KWAN to effectively deliver quality healthcare to underserved communities and promote good health awareness.

She said KWAN’s dialysis centres, now serving 350 patients, have become a significant initiative, broadening KPJ Healthcare’s commitment to bridging quality healthcare access, especially in meeting the needs of the surrounding community.

In addition, as of 2023, KPJ Healthcare has established eight mobile clinics in rural areas across Malaysia, providing basic healthcare services with support from the Group’s network of hospitals, specialists, and medical practitioners.

"KPJ Healthcare’s static clinics and dialysis centres, three of which are Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH)-certified, are strategically located throughout Malaysia, catering to underprivileged patients,” she added. - BERNAMA
