KJ applauds Anwar's Madani Economy vision
SHAH ALAM - The presentation made by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's on Madani Economy to empower the people, gave a clearer picture of the economic vision that the people are looking forward to, said former Umno Youth leader, Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said that the two major movements outlined in the economy, namely raising the ceiling and the floor, are also worthy of praise.
"The Prime Minister has painted a clear picture of our current status, the lack of new engine growth, the huge gap between household income and economic growth in Malaysia that is plunged into a cycle of recession with low wages and reduced competitiveness.
"I like that he presented the solutions and not only problems especially the outlining of two big movements in our economy, raising the ceiling and raising the floor," he said on yesterday's Keluar Sekejap podcast.
Khairy added, by raising the ceiling, Malaysia can fly far to become a regional economic leader in Asia, the world, becoming an investment as well as a digital-based industry destination
"While he says that he doesn't stop this capital-based economy from elevating, the Prime Minister's economic philosophy is clear that he doesn't want just the ceiling to soar.
"In the liberal economic order, the ceiling elevates but the floor does not rise, the floor is either stagnant at the same level or sinks, which is worse.
"Our company becomes a world giant, large investments come to Malaysia, it is useless if the ceiling flies yet the floor does not rise, it means the improvement of people's lives, there is clarity now," he said.
Hearing the comments of the former Health Minister, former Umno information chief, Shahril Hamdan jokingly said Khairy is not pro-Perikatan Nasional as claimed.
"If anyone thinking KJ is pro-PN, can view the two-minute clip showing how KJ has explained the Madani Economy narrative launched by the Prime Minister so clearly.
"I agree, this is the most comprehensive document, economic philosophy and direction, after Najib's new economic model," Shahril added.
