KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali promises to help and uplift the Malay and Muslim community in Kampung Kemensah and Keramat, here if he wins in the upcoming state poll.

During candidate nomination day on Saturday, Azmin had officially been named as one of the candidates for the Hulu Kelang seat for the upcoming state elections.

“My number on the ballot paper is number one, at the top. Usually, number one is always better than number two, am I right?

“This election is crucial for us because today, the people are suffering especially the Malays and Muslims,” he said on Sunday.

Azmin also expressed his concerns toward the Malays and Muslims, which he claimed would be disregarded by the current government.

“I am concerned that we will be disregarded. We must wake up and act. We can no longer remain silent when others disrespect our race and religion.

“When you vote for Perikatan Nasional, I will ensure that no one will undermine us,” he said.

Azmin also said voters should choose PN because he was not a liar who promised unrealistic manifestos.

“I came here to see you all devoid of any unrealistic promises, because other political parties make many promises to the public and neglect their promises.

“During my stint as the Selangor Menteri Besar, I abolished the land tax, free water, Kiss cards for mothers valued at RM2,400 each, and RM2500 for burial expenses.

“These are the services and assistance programmes that I have made available to the people of Selangor.

“Vote for me and Perikatan Nasional, and I will make certain that these facilities and services are returned to you,” he said.

Earlier, Azmin visited three locations – Kampung Kemensah, Flat UTM AU3 and Desa Keramat.

Azmin sought to win the Hulu Kelang seat again for this election, as he did back in 1999.
