Woman arrested for making a false report
AMPANG - A woman has been arrested for making a false report claiming to be a victim of a robbery in Kampung Dato Mufti Shuib, here, on Friday.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail stated that the 24-year-old suspect did this because she wanted to obtain a replacement identity card which was lost.
"The suspect claimed that her handbag was snatched by a motorcycle rider while she was riding pillion on a motorcycle with her male friend at 7 p.m.," he said in a statement on Monday.
Mohd Azam said that they apprehended the woman at the Ampang Police Station at 8:50 p.m. on the same day for making a false report.
"Upon investigation, it was found that the suspect has no criminal record, and a urine test came back negative for drugs.
"The suspect will be remanded for four days until tomorrow to assist in the investigation under Section 182 of the Penal Code," he said.
