SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has issued another stern warning to politicians against using mosques for campaigning purposes during the state election.

The aim is to create safe zones within these religious places, free from any political influence.

Its director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) strictly prohibits any form of party politics or propaganda within mosques and suraus.

In a statement today, he said it would be considered insulting, disrespecting and violating the Selangor Sultan's decree along with Mais and may be subject under Section 12 (a) or (b) of the Shariah Criminal Enactment (Selangor) 1995.

Failure to comply with the guidelines may result in the revocation of mosque personnel's appointments, in accordance with Regulation 7 (f) of the Mosque and Surau Regulations (Selangor) 2017, he said.
