SEREMBAN - Allah predestined the unification between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form the unity government, BN chairman says.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he did not think it could happen.

"Nine months ago, would we have thought that PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) would be together with us? They were condemning us, we condemn them. That's why we lost.

"But Allah had set this fate. We saw how our brothers from PKR, Amanah (Parti Amanah Negara) and DAP who were willing to forget the separation for the sake of the people and the unity government," he said in his speech during the Santai Bersama Rakyat Programme in Desa Sri Pantai here on Tuesday.

He said they were open to establish such cooperation to ensure the political stability of the country in addition to welcoming the decree of the Yang di-Pertua Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to form the unity government.

However, he said the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin told His Majesty that his coalition did not want to cooperate.

"PH had 82 Parliamentary seats and BN had 30 seats, the condition to form the government is 112 seats.

"If that's not predestined by Allah, what is it? It was not a single seat more or less," he said.

He also thanked Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu who was prepared to give the Lenggeng state seat to BN.

Zahid said the preparations were proof of the unity spirit and consensus between BN and PH.
