PERMATANG PAUH - Permatang Pauh MP Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan has predicted that Umno will not win any state seats in the upcoming Penang state election.

Fawwaz said that Umno's support in Penang has been declining in recent years.

"Umno in Penang is getting weaker and more and more abandoned by the rakyat here.

"If people ask what the evidence is, we can see their achievements in every election previously.

"The more every election happens, their seats decrease, and if we look at the last one in the 14th general elections, they only had 2 seats at that time, namely Permatang Berangan and Sungai Dua," he told Sinar Daily today.

Fawwaz also pointed to the recent defection of former Umno Youth exco, Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin, to Perikatan Nasional (PN) as a sign of Umno's declining popularity in Penang.

"I'm not surprised they joined PN. In fact, I guarantee many more will join PN.

"This shows that PN is accepted by society in Malaysia, including among Umno members," he said.
