SHAH ALAM – Statements revolving around race, racial and royal institution (3R) have been used by many parties for a long time, and it is not something new, says Amanah secretary-general.

Datuk Dr Hatta Ramli said that a lot of clashes between the Malaysian society and the government were caused by 3R sentiments as well as the issues of calling other ‘infidels’ as an insult.

"These are not new. They have been used to cause chaos.

“Now, we can focus on putting an end to it and not allow it to disturb the harmony of the people, which will put an end to the dangerous accusations and slander as an attempt of aggressive politics," Hatta said during his speech at a talk at Medan Selera, Seksyen 20, here, last night.

He said these people would continue to use all kinds of sentiments to weaken the unity of the people in the country.

“This is the issue that we have not completely erased due to the sentiments being easily used as a way to either win or lose votes.

"Unity of the people is of utmost importance and must be maintained throughout the ruling of the new government," he said.

He also highlighted that Perikatan Nasional was arrogant for rejecting the King’s request to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in the last general election.
