LGBT rally: Cops submit investigation papers to AGC
KUALA LUMPUR – Investigation papers over a rally related to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights in front of a shopping complex, here, on July 29 have been handed over to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC).
City police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the investigation papers were sent yesterday (Friday).
"Eight suspects aged between 18 to 56, who were arrested have been released on police bail after their one-day remand period ended on July 30.
"The investigation papers of the case were also sent to the AGC yesterday for further action," he said at the KL Cops Urbanathlon programme at the Kuala Lumpur (KL) Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) here today.
It was previously reported that eight men suspected of being involved in the Ahmadi Religion deviant teaching were arrested by the police after participating in the July 29 event.
The suspects who participated in the event had stated that the LGBT rights in Malaysia was being restricted, yelling 'down syariah court' while holding placards.
It was reported that they have been a part of the group for almost two years.
One of the suspects was recently arrested for distributing religious brochures at a mosque near Putrajaya a few weeks ago.
The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 and Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
