IPOH - The activities of the Umno Tambun Youth Division remain unaffected despite its former Umno Youth Division Chief Faridzul Azlan Abd Shani joining Bersatu.

The present Umno Tambun Youth Division Chief Akmal Zharif Ahmad Kamal said it has not disrupted the party's progress.

Akmal said the Umno Tambun Youth division is thriving with the opening of three new branches under new leadership team.

"I personally know him (Faridzul Azlan). He is an old friend of mine.

"It's not right to accuse Umno of straying from its path just because he left the party.

"One should question oneself and not give excuses (point fingers)," he told Sinar.

He left after being disappointed with the party's previous election results with the perception that Perikatan Nasional (PN) was stronger.

Meanwhile, Akmal also criticised Faridzul Azlan's statement that Umno's struggle to defend the interests of the Malay community was no longer relevant.

Sinar reported today that Faridzul Azlan, the former Umno Youth Exco member admitted that he could not compromise his principles by remaining with Umno, which he perceived as having deviated from its true cause.

Faridul recently joined PN said that Umno's current struggle is more focused on individual interests, benefitting onlya few officeholders, while th majority are at a disadvantage.
