BAYAN LEPAS - Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for Pantai Jerejak, Fahmi Zainol, is confident of winning the hearts of 50 per cent of Chinese voters in his constituency due to their trust in the Unity Government administration.

In an exclusive interview with Sinar Daily, Fahmi said that he is not worried about winning the votes of the Chinese community, as he has been receiving a positive response from them during his house-to-house campaigning.

"I believe that the Chinese voters here are able to choose their leaders and evaluate the candidates for this state election.

"When I went on the ground, I found that they are still supportive of the Unity Government administration, so this could be advantageous for me," he said during his walkabout at Pangsapuri Mahsuri, Bayan Baru, today.

The 32-year-old candidate also said that he has been meeting many elderly residents during his campaigning, and that this has helped him to attract voters from all age groups.

"Even the elderly are happy to see me. They describe me as ‘a young candidate’ who represents my party, PH," he said.

In the upcoming election on Aug 12, Fahmi will be up against Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) candidate Priyankaa Loh, Oh Tong Keong from Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Ravinder Sing from Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) for the Pantai Jerejak state seat.
