KEPALA BATAS – Penang Perikatan Nasional (PN) manifesto offers to review the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP).

Its chairman, Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai, said in his speech today that PN will review the plan to help Penangnites.

"Penang is a state that faces bad traffic congestion. In order to reduce this problem, our coalition will introduce alternative forms of public transportation.

"If given the mandate, we will introduce the Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART)," Dominic said in his speech during the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Penang Manifesto launch at Hotel Seri Malaysia, Kepala Batas, today.

Dominic, who is also the Gerakan president, further elaborated that his coalition will promise to build more affordable housing priced below RM100,000 per unit.

"We will use a system to ensure all developers are required to build 30 per cent low-cost housing priced below RM100,000 for every housing project that they build," he added.

To help Penangites, he added that Penang PN will reduce the rental rates of government housing and create a community-friendly housing quota system.

The Penang PN manifesto contains 33 offerings based on eight thrusts to drive the economy, resolve cost-of-living issues, protect the people’s well-being, increase property ownership, guarantee good health services, protect the sustainability of the environment, strengthen the transportation system, improve the tourism sector, and cultivate a mature political culture.
