Early voting: 17.85 per cent voter turnout in Bertam as at 10am

KEPALA BATAS - The voter turnout for the Penang state polls in Bertam stood at 17.85 per cent as of 10am today.

Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Asri Shafie said there were six early voting centres in the district.

"For SPU, there are six voting centers for early voting, five of which were for the police and one centre for the military.

"The police's main voting centre is at the SPU police headquaters and there are two channels involving 663 voters.

"At the Tasek Gelugor police station, there are 41 voters, Sungai Dua police station (41), Telok Ayer Tawar police station (31) and Butterworth (180)," he said when met at state election early voting centre at Dewan Temenggung here today.

Asri added that there were 2,351 voters involving five channels at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) in Butterworth.

"As of 10am, 17.85 per cent have gone out to vote.

"The voting centers at Dewan Temenggung, Butterworth and RMAF Butterworth will close at 5pm, while the rest of the voting centres will close at noon," he said.

When asked about the campaign process in Bertam, Asri said political parties have complied with the guidelines provided.

He added that the campaign process went smoothly.

"Throughout the campaign, all political parties have met the conditions, they also got their campaign permits.

"The campaign for the state elections ran smoothly without any provocation," he said.
