SHAH ALAM - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has engaged the services of a lawyer to seek advice in protecting himself from false allegations.

This comes in response to claims that he committed a sexual harassment offence against a woman recently.

“Before proceeding with any civil action against the complainant, I will defer to the police to complete their investigation into the report, so as not to hinder the ongoing effective tasks.

“On record, I would like to say that the police report was made with the intention to ensure that these baseless and false accusations are thoroughly examined, in an effort to prevent any damage to the reputation of an innocent individual,” he said.

Faizal emphasised that he had filed a police report yesterday to ensure that incidents of false reporting were seriously addressed by the law.

Faizal made a police report on July 24 when the allegations were spread, and the complainant also withdrew the report on the same day it was made.

He clarified that his intention in lodging the police report was to create an environment where victims of such incidents were not afraid to come forward and report their situations, without fear of revenge or doubt from any party.

Faizal affirmed his strong stance in supporting genuine victims of sexual harassment and their right to seek justice.
