SHAH ALAM - Checks have found that R Tayalan or his Muslim name Mohd Farid Abdullah, 26, only had his birth certificate, information on his citizenship was not yet determined.

NRD in the statement had explained that no information was received regarding Farid's mother during the birth registration process.

“However, Farid’s biological father R Rama Chandran had went to the NRD office in Putrajaya to make an amendments to the birth certificate to add on information on Farid's motherm Mariamman Arumugam in June 2023.

“The application was being processed, but Mariamman failed to attend for the next process which was for the purpose of verification and evaluation.

“We needed the cooperation of Mariamman’s presence to consider the inclusion of her identification card number in Farid’s birth certificate,” it said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to media reports, Farid was arrested in an operation in Ipoh in 2019 and the arrest was made known after his stepfather Mohamad Tarudi Bahari, 68, informed his birth father Rama of the matter.
