KUALA LUMPUR: ‘Kita Selangor’ grand finale ceramah draws thousands of people from Keramat and the surrounding areas to Padang MPAJ AU2 here tonight.

The grand finale ceramah kicked off with the #arusmerahkuning concert with a performance by local band Floor Band 88 and Masdo.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) members and supporters have gathered as early as 8pm for the final hustings which will be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 11pm.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu are also expected to attend the event.

A die-heart PH supporter Mary Tan, 51, flew down from Hong Kong today, to make it on time for the grand ceramah by Anwar.

“I’m a staunch supporter of Anwar and Pakatan Harapan. I just flew down from Hong Kong to cast my vote for Bukit Gasing state seat.

“Anwar has been doing a great job governing the country and I would want him and PH to continue to govern Malaysia,” she who came from Petaling Jaya said.

Twenty-two years old Mohd Iqram Salleh from Keramat said the line up of artists for the concert is a great pull factor for the ceramah.

“My friend and I have come from as far as Cheras and Petaling Jaya for the ceramah tonight,” he added.

When asked if he would cast his vote for PH, he said as young voter he sees great potential in the government led by Anwar.

“I know Malaysia will prosper in another five years under the leadership of PMX,” he added.

Shalini Subramian, 36 from Ampang who had just returned from work also didn’t want to miss the grand ceramah tonight.

“My 60-year-old father is more excited than I am to attend and hear Anwar talk.

“We are very happy with the government under Anwar and will continue supporting it,” she added.

The Election Commission (SPR) has announced that polling for the state elections in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan will be held simultaneously on Aug 12, while nomination on July 29 and early voting on Aug 8.

There are 56 state seats in Selangor and prior to the dissolution of the State Assembly last June 23, PH has 40 seats (PKR-19, DAP-15, Amanah-six), BN (five), Bersatu (four), Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) (two), while PAS, Pejuang and Warisan have one seat each, alongside one independent representative.

The seat in Batang Kali was declared vacant after the elected representative failed to attend the assembly sitting for over six months.
