SHAH ALAM - Pakatan Harapan's (PH) Kampung Tunku state seat candidate Lim Yi Wei and Parti Amanah Negara's (Amanah) Youth chief Mohd Hasbie Muda have criticised Muda president Syed Saddiq for his decision to contest solo in the upcoming state elections and for his over-criticism of the government.

Lim said that Syed Saddiq and Muda have "squandered a lot of goodwill" and that their objectives are "questionable."

"What does #PolitikBaru signify, particularly when they field candidates who have displayed discriminatory behavior by engaging in fat-shaming of other candidates," she told Sinar Daily.

It was reported that Muda has recently apologised after some of its members body-shamed incumbent Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran.

Lim also questioned on the reluctance of Muda to field its candidates in Perikatan Nasional (PN) dominated seats.

“Why aren't they contesting (excluding one seat in Terengganu) in states where Perikatan Nasional is contesting?

"Does states where Perikatan Nasional is contesting does not need #PolitikBaru?” said Lim.

In a related matter, Hasbie said that Syed Saddiq should have been patient and that his decision to compete solo is his exit strategy from the Unity Government.

He further stated that Syed Saddiq's actions are "childish" and that he will most likely not be accepted back into PH.

“He forgot that PH, particularly Amanah, provided grade A seats in Puteri Wangsa, yet he decided to back stab PH today,” said Hasbie.

The criticism from Lim and Hasbie comes after Syed Saddiq announced that Muda will be contesting in 12 state seats in the upcoming elections.

The decision by Muda to contest solo has been met with mixed reactions.

Some have praised Syed Saddiq for his courage, while others have criticised him for dividing the opposition vote.
