Kedah polls: Voter stunned as identity used by another to cast vote

ALOR SETAR - A woman has lodged a police report after discovering voting issues at a polling station in Kedah.

Rozana Mokhtar, 35, from Taman Lagenda claimed that her registered name had purportedly been used to vote in the Lunas state assembly, resulting in her failing to cast her own vote at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Taman Mahsuri, today.

As a first time voter, she had expressed excitement as she arrived with her sister to vote at 8.50am.

"It was my first time voting here, so I asked the staff for aid towards the correct channel. The officer on duty at the station had asked for my identification card.

"When I handed it over, he was shocked and informed my name had been crossed. There was an individual who used my identification card to cast a vote," she told reporters on Saturday.

Following the shocking discovery, she asked the Election Commission officer if the processes were thoroughly followed.

"I was informed that I couldn't vote because my name was crossed," she said.

Rozana said she was directed to Padang Serai Police Station to lodge a report and further instructed to Kulim district police headquarters.

Her initial exceitement to vote turned into disappointment and sadness, leaving her in shocked over the discovery.

Rozana who had shared her experience in Facebook as left many in shocked, sparking calls to probe over the matter.
