A total of 570 candidates from nine parties are vying for 245 state seats, including 36 in Kedah; 45 in Kelantan; 32 in Terengganu; 40 in Penang; 56 in Selangor and 36 in Negeri Sembilan. A total of over 9.7 million Malaysians from six different states will be eligible to vote.
UNOFFICIAL RESULT: Kedah wins simple majority needed to form government at 19 seats.
