YAN - Kedah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chief Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has given his words that the soon-to-be-sworn-in PN government will not oppress and mistreat the opposition.

“To PH-BN (Pakatan Harapan - Barisan Nasional), I promise you that the this new government will treat all of you with fairness, kindness and ‘ehsan’ as espoused by Allah,” said Sanusi in his victory speech at Kedah Pas headquarters at Kota Sarang Semut, here, today.

PN won imposingly at the Kedah polls yesterday, sweeping 33 of 36 state seats that were up grabs, effectively earning it a super-majority in the state.

Such victory, remarked Sanusi, attested the “fighter spirit” of Kedahans who do not take kindly to those who tried to suppress their potential.

“Wherever it is that we want to climb, we’ll do it on our own. And to those who try to hinder our progress, we will not stand for such interference.

“To Kedahans who voted for us — and to those who didn’t — I assure you that this government will be the one to bring progress and development to Kedah,” said Sanusi, who managed to defend his incumbent Jeneri seat by a majority of 10,418.

The PH-BN alliance was co-led by Datuk Mahfuz Omar of Amanah and Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid from Umno.

Both Mahfuz and Mahdzir who contested in, respectively, Alor Mengkudu and Pedu seats, lost by a majority of 10,104 and 6,373, each.

PH contested in 21 seats but won only three whereas, BN contested in 15 and zero seats.
