KLANG - Former Batu MP Tian Chua has described that Pakatan Harapan's (PH) close victory in the recent election serves as a valuable wake-up call for the party.

He believes it is a reminder to avoid complacency, especially after enjoying comfort for three consecutive terms.

"In a democratic system, people always desire more, particularly the educated and politically aware populace of the Klang Valley.

"They expect an even better performance from the Pakatan government," Tian Chua told Sinar Daily.

He stresses that political parties, whether PH, Perikatan Nasional (PN), or Barisan Nasional (BN), should align their priorities on both federal and state levels.

"Both sides need to refocus on their duties toward those who have granted them their mandate.

"At the federal level, PN plays a crucial role as an opposition, but they also govern multiple states, sharing the responsibility for nation-building," he added.

Tian Chua further expressed the importance of genuine reconciliation and meaningful discussions concerning the concerns of voters, suggesting that all parties should prioritise addressing those concerns.

He envisions more constructive engagement from the opposition, urging them to make the most of the upcoming five years to steer Malaysia toward the right direction in terms of democratic and economic development.
