SUNGAI PETANI - A cosmetics shop assistant faced a harrowing moment as her necklace was snatched by a man in an incident at a shop on Jalan Sekerat Kampung Sungai Tongka here today.

The incident occurred at a shop along Jalan Sekerat Kampung Sungai Tongka earlier today.

Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zaidy Che Hassan said the suspect, believed to be in his 30s, entered the cosmetics store donning a motorcycle helmet, feigning interest in making purchases.

The incident occurred while the shop's 31-year-old attendant was alone.

In a deplorable turn of events, while engaging the shop assistant in conversation about various products, the suspect abruptly snatched the victim's gold necklace, causing her to lose her balance and fall. "The forceful act not only led to the loss of the necklace valued at approximately RM3,000, but also inflicted bruises on the victim's neck," Zaidy Che Hassan said.

The suspect promptly exited the establishment and made a swift getaway on a waiting motorcycle.

The entire incident was captured by the store's closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, which have aided the police investigation.

"The authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspect," Zaidy Che stressed.
