JOHOR BAHRU - A form three student who fell victim to bullying by a group of teenagers in the recreational area of Taman Bestara Indah is reported to be still traumatised by the incident.

Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee Tse visited the victim, known as Iqbal, at his residence and witnessed the trauma experienced by the teenager himself.

He advised the student to undergo an X-ray examination at Hospital Sultan Ismail (HSI) to determine whether he had suffered internal injuries.

"This morning, I visited Iqbal, the victim of bullying by a group of students in the playground area of Taman Bestari Indah, which has recently gone viral on social media.

"I express my sympathy for the ordeal that has befallen Iqbal and also handed over a contribution to Iqbal's parents as a sign of concern," he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Puah said there is no compromise regarding bullying and gangsterism; thus, firm action should be taken against those involved.

He said shortly, they would collaborate with the police and the school to organise awareness campaigns and counselling sessions to curb bullying.

Meanwhile, a family acquaintance of the student stated that the victim was a former lymphoma cancer patient who had recently been declared free from the disease.

"As parents, we hope incidents like this are taken seriously, and appropriate actions are taken to make it a lesson," the acquaintance said.
