KUALA TERENGGANU - The people did not vote against Umno out of hatred for the party; instead, it's a signal that the party needs to gain insights from this before it becomes buried.

Terengganu Umno Youth chief Tengku Haphiz Tengku Putera said that the struggle must continue to ensure that Umno, particularly in Terengganu, rises again and successfully captures the hearts of voters in the upcoming general elections.

"Together with the Top Five Division Youth and the Youth Assembly Members, we share their feelings and listen to their views on the recent Terengganu State Elections.

"The majority of the youth agree that the party members need to be infused with direction.

It might be bitter and painful but only a bitter medicine can heal this pain.

The people didn't vote against Umno out of hate; they want Umno to acquire knowledge before it becomes its own ghost," he posted on Facebook recently.

Tengku Haphiz made these remarks after all Barisan Nasional candidates who contested in Terengganu state elections suffered defeat against Perikatan Nasional.

The election witnessed several significant surprises, including two former Terengganu Menteri Besars losing to their respective challengers.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, who contested in the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly seat of Kijal, lost to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Communications Chief, Datuk Razali Idris, by a majority of 3,758 votes.

Razali, a newcomer running on a Pas ticket, defeated Ahmad, the Terengganu Barisan Nasional Chairman, by receiving 13,403 votes.

The recent Terengganu State Elections and the Kuala Terengganu Parliamentary By-election on Saturday saw Pas sweeping all 32 state seats and one Parliamentary seat.
