SHAH ALAM – ‘I saw the plane tilting before I heard a loud explosion," said a witness to the incident of the light plane that crashed in Elmina, Section U16 here on Thursday.

The former member of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Mohd Syahmie Md Hashim, 31, said that he was on his way to Paya Jaras when the incident took place.

Syahmie said he was driving a car to deliver goods when he heard the explosion, which he first thought was a factory on fire.

"I then proceeded to the location before seeing that the plane was in pieces.

"In fact, I also saw someone who was razed by fire. I could not do anything,” he said when met at the scene on Thursday.

He added that several members of the public also said that the plane crashed and hit a motorcycle.

The aircraft, operated by Jet Valet Sdn Bhd, departed from Langkawi International Airport at 2.08pm en route to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that six passengers and two flight crew were onboard the aircraft, including prominent people whose names had not been released yet.

The crash occurred at about 2.45pm and claimed the lives of 10 individuals including motorcyclists.
