SHAH ALAM - The results of the 2023 state elections post-mortem will be discussed internally by the grassroots leadership first, says Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.

He explained all the complaints and views were necessary for the party to improve on its mistakes and continue moving forward.

"Thank you to the Umno youth from all over Malaysia. We are here on the basis of love and the desire to see Umno improve.

"Umno is owned by us all," he said to answer the questions of a netizen who asked for the details and results of the meeting on Facebook on Friday.

Akmal previously called all Umno Youth from the entire country to attend the meeting on Thursday to find the cause of the loss and methods to solve it and return Umno to its former glory.

The first phase of the 'Where We Went Wrong' meeting at the International Youth Centre, Kuala Lumpur involved the top leadership for every division before several state tours for the post-mortem session to be focused and involve more grassroots members.

Akmal had deflected the accusations of irresponsible parties, claiming he had cooperated with former Umno vice president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein by releasing old photos of the duo meeting up.

"Some said that I was branded as Hisham's boy and such. I would like to explain the pictures that had gone viral was my meeting with him on Sept 25, 2019.

"It was when Umno was still the opposition and Pakatan Harapan was the government, I was only the Jasin Umno Youth division chief.

"And at the time he (Hishammuddin) was still an Umno member," he explained.
