Elmina crash: Mother loses appetite thinking about late son Sharipuddin

ARAU - The mother of e-hailing driver Sharipuddin Shaari, 53, who died in the tragic plane crash in Elmina, Section U16, Shah Alam on Thursday did not know at first that her son had gone forever.

According to the late Sharipuddin's cousin, Maznah Abdullah, 68, her aunt, Hatun Abu bakar, 80, had for the past few days frequently mentioned the name of the third child of four siblings and had no appetite.

She said that Hatun whom she addressed as 'Mak Ngah' had gone to Kuala Lumpur early Friday morning not knowing about the crash that had taken away her son's life.

"She had no appetite to eat and had been saying his son's name Sharipuddin. We didn't know, but that's a mother's instinct. She would think about him and would not eat.

I said, "Ngah, what would you like to have (eat)? She said she didn't want anything, I went to her house to treat her to some meal, but she didn't want to. She had no appetite thinking about her son (Sharipuddin).

"She didn't know what happened when she went there (Shah Alam) and nobody told her because she had a heart disease," she said.

Maznah shared that the last time they met and got together was on the last Eid in April.

According to her, the family was shocked to find out about the accident when the authorities confirmed that Sharipuddin was also involved.

"The late Sharipuddin migrated to Kuala Lumpur after post-Covid-19 two years ago to earn a living to support his family due to work constraints here.

"He did all kinds of jobs here like security guard to make a living before deciding to migrate there," she said.

Earlier, the media reported that Sharipuddin who hailed from Arau, Perlis, was among the 10 victims who had died in the plane crash in Elmina, Section U16, Shah Alam on Thursday.

He left behind a widow Suriana Muda, 43, and two children namely Muhammad Sharul Izuan, 16, and Nur Izzara Arissya, nine.
