SHAH ALAM - Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has slammed Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud’s statement claiming that two state opposition assemblymen were against Islamic struggle.

Akmal said individuals who held different political struggles from the governing party of the state were not against Islam.

“Political parties are not religion. Since the nation’s independence until the 14th general election (GE14), dignity of Islam in Malaysia has always been upheld despite it not being under Pas’ rule.

“In fact, Malaysia at that time was known as the best Islamic model in the world.

“That’s not all, Umno at the time was the mainstay of the government and it had never stated that those who did not support the party was against Islam,” he said in a Facebook post, today.

Recently, a 44-second video by Nassuruddin went viral when he claimed that two opposition assemblymen in Kelantan fought against Islam while delivering his lecture in Kota Bharu on Friday.

Akmal further urged divisive politics to be stopped as the public wanted leaders who worked and not those separating the public through extremist sentiments.

He added that politics should be uniting the public and it could be used to defend the race not the other way around.
