Choose neutral theme for National Day - Ahmad Fadhli
SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth's proposal regarding the use of an alternative logo and theme came up when the central government had politicised the celebration of the National Day which blatantly had something to do with party politics.
Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the 'Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan' theme which has been used repeatedly during the political campaign meant to symbolise the National Day theme introduced by the government.
"It is clear that the words Madani, unity and hope are words that are repeated during the political campaign, especially in the last state elections.
"Although those words mean good, they have been politicised during the party's political campaign. Therefore, if you want to unite the people under one theme, choose a more neutral one," he said through a video on his Facebook page, today.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi responded to Ahmad Fadhli's statement regarding the issue by saying that patriotic matters such as the logo and theme of National Day should not be politicised.
It was reported that Ahmad Fadhli said that Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, which were ruled by PN, were likely to use the alternative logo and theme launched by the PN Youth yesterday, which was 'Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera' and a logo with hibiscus elements.
In May, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that the theme of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2023 was 'Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan' highlighting Madani Malaysia as the official logo.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Fadhli said the theme and logo introduced by PN were more neutral and did not include words that were used repeatedly during the state elections campaign.
"We do not suggest using the words 'clean' or 'stable'. Although both are good words, we have used them during the campaign.
"So, if you want to unite the people, choose words that are more neutral so that all people of various political understanding can accept.
"If the people want a political slogan, yes we will introduce an alternative theme," he said.
