KUALA TERENGGANU - The Terengganu government will use the federal government's logo and theme for the National Day celebration on Aug 31, as previously introduced by the Communications and Digital Ministry.

Menteri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said preparations for the anniversary of the country's independence to be celebrated at the state level have been organised and will continue as usual.

"Yes, the same (National Day logo and theme according to Putrajaya)," he replied briefly when contacted through WhatsApp on Monday.

On Saturday, Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari drew attention after announcing that four states under PN's administration which were Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu may use an alternative logo and theme launched by PN Youth.

The logo introduced by PN Youth was based on a hibiscus with five petals with the colours on the Jalur Gemilang with the theme 'Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera'.

However, after receiving much criticism, the Pasir Mas MP said it was only a recommendation by PN Youth as an alternative to the celebration's logo and theme.

Meanwhile, state Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad in a statement on Monday praised Terengganu's decision to continue using the same National Day logo and theme set by the federal government.

He said the National Day should be welcomed by all parties regardless of political affiliation in the spirit of unification for the sake of Malaysia.

"The statement of the Terengganu Menteri Besar is timely. Any disagreement should be set aside to build a more prosperous country with the spirit of success as we celebrate the National Day together.

"The responsibility of politicians and representatives of the people is to help the people by alleviating their daily burdens rather than adding to the turmoil and burden of their lives by endless politics," he said.

In May, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that the theme of “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” will be used for this year's National Day and Malaysia Day celebration.
