SHAH ALAM - The Education Ministry will issue an official media statement on the 2023 Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) which will be early scheduled on Dec 5.

However, its Minister Fadhlina Sidek added that her Ministry has so far not issued any statement on that matter.

"We (the ministry) have not issued a statement yet.

"Just wait for our full report later," she said at a press conference after launching the 2022 Annual Report of the Malaysian Education Development Plan (PPPM) 2013-2025 at the Raja Tun Uda Library, Section 13 here, on Tuesday.

Earlier, the media reported that the SPM 2023 examination will begin on Dec 5, next in line with the MoE's move to gradually return the start of school sessions to the original, which will be scheduled on Jan.

The exam will begin with the science practical test on Dec 5, followed by the speaking test on Jan 8 next year.

While the written exam will take place on Jan 30, with the final paper on Mar 7.

This was different from the schedule faced by SPM 2022 students, which started on Jan 30 and ended on March 15.

The former education general director, Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd. Dom elaborated that the move to start the SPM was the first step to returning the school schedule to normal.
