Muhyiddin recognised for education development contributions

SHAH ALAM - A think tank has recognised former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as one of the major contributors to the success of the Malaysia Education Development Plan 2013-2025.

Malaysian Institute of the Future (Masa) Chief Executive Officer Azril Mohd Amin said the recognition comes as the education master plan was launched in 2013 when Muhyiddin held the position of education minister.

"He (Muhyiddin) served as the education minister from 2009 to 2015 and his outstanding and visionary leadership is evident in the preparation of this transformative basic education development framework," he said in a statement.

He said in the coming year, Masa will continue Muhyiddin's legacy through cooperation and innovation to have an impact in the education landscape.

Education Ministry recently said the education development plan had achieved success after a decade of implementation.

The achievements were detailed in the 2022 Annual Report showcasing despite various challenges and obstacles, determination and sustainable innovation to enable progress.

Meanwhile, Azril also expressed appreciation and cooperation of various stakeholders, including the public, NGOs and corporate bodies who played a crucial role in the transformation of the nation's education.
