ALOR SETAR - Kedah will use the same theme and logo for the National Day celebration as what was introduced by the Federal Government.

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said Kedah will take the stance in the spirit of patriotism and follow what was decided at the central level.

He said using the same theme and logo between the two states with different political beliefs was not an issue as it does not change their political direction.

“Kedah would follow whatever is decided at a central level, there’s no issues of using the same logo and theme.

“Why raise arguments regarding the issue? We agreed to use the same theme and logo, this does not mean that we agree with the Malaysia Madani concept introduced by the unity government,” he said in a press conference after chairing the first exco meeting at Wisma Darul Aman earlier today.

Previously the Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil hoped for all states to use the same theme and logo for the celebrations introduced by the Federal Government.

Fahmi announced the “'Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” as the National Day and Malaysia Day celebration theme and raised Malaysia Madani as an official logo.

Last Saturday, Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari in a press conference, suggested that the Kelantan, Kedah, Terengganu and Perlis states under PN administrations use a different logo and theme at a state level.

Sanusi, also the Kedah PN chairman, stressed that the selected theme and logo are not reflective of any political stance but rather emphasise the significance of patriotism.

"The celebration is at a national level, so there’s no problems for the states to follow suit. Whatever theme is placed our hearts are the same.

"Last year’s theme was long forgotten. After this, we will forget this year’s theme. We are not following or supporting Pakatan Harapan (PH). However, because it was made into the national theme (so) we should just follow it," Sanusi concluded.
