Worker gets trapped in paper compression machine, dies

SHAH ALAM - A Bangladeshi worker is believed to have died after being trapped in a paper compression machine at a recycling material factory in Klang today.

Assistant Director of the Bomba and Rescue Operations Division of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, Senior Fire Officer I Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received a distress call at 1.51pm.

"A team of six members and officers along with specialised tools from the Sungai Pinang Fire and Rescue Station were rushed to the scene of the incident.

"The 19-year-old man was trapped in the machine while performing compaction work on recycling materials," he said in a statement today.

Mukhlis said the victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead by health ministry officials.

Measures to extricate the victim from the machine were carried out by the fire and rescue team, he said.
