HULU SELANGOR - A teenage boy died after a motorcycle he was riding collided with a trailer at kilometer 37 of the Kuala Lumpur-Ipoh road near here today.

Hulu Selangor District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim stated that in the incident that occurred at 1.45 p.m, the 17-year-old victim was riding a type of motorcycle called 'Comel' on his way from a high school to a petrol station.

"The victim from the school used the back road to go to the petrol station to refuel the motorcycle, but the accident happened about 200 meters towards the petrol station," he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Faizal mentioned that the initial investigation revealed that the accident is believed to have occurred when the 30-year-old trailer driver was traveling from Batang Kali to Kuala Lumpur.

"Upon reaching the scene, the motorcycle rider appeared from the left junction and collided with the middle part of the trailer, fell, and was run over by the rear tire of the vehicle," he said.

Ahmad Faizal stated that the victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The victim was sent to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for post-mortem examination, and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"Members of the public with information related to this accident can come forward to assist in the investigation," he said.
