'If Umno is a champion for Malays, why not get justice for Najib' - Mohd Nazifuddin
SHAH ALAM - Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib has questioned Umno's efforts in obtaining justice for its leaders, especially in the defense of Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The son of the former prime minister raised the question in commemoration of the one year anniversary of Najib's imprisonment.
"If today Umno is part of the government and champion of the Malays, why can't we (Umno) get justice for our own leaders.
"If Tun Razak (the second Prime Minister of Malaysia) is jailed today and not DSN (Datuk Seri Najib), will we get justice for him?" he asked in a statement on Wednesday.
In the meantime, the Langkawi Umno chief said that the people have voiced out that it is just not an economic issue and basic needs but an issue of principles and human rights during the recent state election.
He said what is happening to his father is something cruel and quite sad based on the comments of a judge who judged Najib regarding the RM42 million fund.
"This money is not from robbery or any source that is wrong in terms of the law, not even from the pockets of KWAP (Incorporated Retirement Fund) but given by business companies for CSR (corporate social responsibility) purposes.
"In fact, it has been proven many times by the bank and the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) in the trial that there will be a 'money trail' that my father also received at least RM642 million in donations or donations from Saudi Arabia.
"This includes a direct transfer from the bank account of the Ministry of Finance of Saudi Arabia to my father's account. This documents have already been 'leaked' and spread widely on social media," he said.
Meanwhile, Mohd Nazifuddin said that he and his family members did not understand and were disappointed with the people who did not seem to appreciate the services of the former Prime Minister in uplifting the country during his time at the helm of the country.
In fact, he said, evidence of excellence is easily obtained on social media channels or search engines and is not just stories cokked up by the family in order to gain sympathy for his father's prison sentence.
"A year has passed. Our father is still behind the iron curtain, still trying to smile for all of us.
"Honestly, our family is just hugely disappointed because every sacrifice he made in providing service for the people and the country is like sacrificing his life, and it seems to be unappreciated," he said.
