Don't create disunity within Umno, focus on GE16 - Shabery

KUALA LUMPUR - No individuals can use the recent election to cause havoc within Umno, says Barisan Nasional (BN) Strategic Communications director Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

He stated Umno’s current agenda remains as it was, continuing forward and focusing on the 16th general election (GE16).

“We will think of new methods, new steps. We will have a postmortem, our Wanita wing is undeniably among the strongest and greatest.

“However, the new war requires a different measure, if it was said that we needed aerial attacks, its not cheap. We must find ways to ensure that no matter the situation, we will make the best of it.

“Let’s hold it to our hearts, no individual can use the recent results of the election to create disunity within the party,” he said.

Shabery said this at the Umno Wanita Solidarity Assembly with the President - Defending the Institution at the Tun Hussein Onn Hall, World Trade Centre (WTC) on Thursday.

Shabery said Umno is now faced with many attacks by enemies, and the attacks are mainly directed towards the president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“There’s no guarantee that Zahid after keeping quiet would not be targeted consistently by our opponents.

“We had gone through a great process since 2018, at the time we knew who our friends and opponents were. I believe this is the most important matter and we must appreciate that the struggle must be continued.

“Leave the state elections be, we must now focus towards GE16,” he said.
