KUALA LUMPUR - A total of 24 cars were towed while 15 motorcycles were picked up for obstructing the traffic and for parking on public roads and at unauthorised areas.

The enforcement was carried out by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) as part of a special action against traffic offences in Jalan Ampang and Jalan Bukit Bintang.

The local authority revealed that a total of 67 compounds were also issued in the operation in accordance with the Road Traffic Rules 1959 and the Road Transport Act 1987.

According to DBKL, the operation was conducted following public complaints on vehicles parked in areas that had blocked the flow of traffic besides riding on pedestrian and people with disabilities (PWD) pavements.

"The vehicles were moved to the DBKL Jalan Pahang Towed Vehicle Storage Depot temporarily for documentation and claim process," it said in a statement.

In the same statement, it also reminded road users and premises owners to obey the regulated rules and traffic signals.

DBKL stressed that it needed to ensure that vehicles (motorcycles and cars) were parked in designated areas to avoid blocking and disturbing pedestrians and the traffic.
